We are excited to welcome Naomi McCourt to Body of Light. Naomi's approach as a massage therapist mirrors the Golden Rule: She wants to treat clients as she would like to be treated, which means really listening to understand their concerns and how best to address them. Naomi likes to incorporate relaxing techniques with work that helps resolve specific issues. She says that massage is not just about touch – it involves connecting with the client’s energy and working with it to give relief.
Naomi grew up in Central Oregon, and received her Associate of Applied Science degree in Massage Therapy from Central Oregon Community College. After moving between Eugene and Bend, she and her husband are back here with their three dogs and five chickens (all girls) – and they love everything about living here. Naomi’s husband is a personal chef for a fly fishing service, which works out well for her because she’s an avid foodie. She loves gardening, hiking, camping, going to the coast and traveling to new countries to sample amazing food. Naomi loves meeting new people, and looks forward to meeting you!
We’ve done a little Q and A with the Body of Light staff, and this is what Naomi had to say:
What do you think makes Eugene…Eugene?
Eugene is Eugene because of the people...there is such a range of lifestyles, which makes for uniquely diversified Eugenian life!
What do you do on a rainy weekend day?
I usually stay inside with my husband and dogs with a fire going. We’ll enjoy homemade soup, bread and maybe have some cookies baking.
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Well, I have two compliments that stand out: My mom said that she is proud of the strong women who I have become, and a client told me that I had given them the best massage they’d ever had.
If you could meet to one person in history or fiction, who would it be?
It’s hard to choose just one! I’d love to pick the brains of strong women like Cleopatra, Amelia Earhart, Joan of Arc and Queen Elizabeth I.
