My experience at Body of Light has been almost spiritual. Dr. Spear connects with people on a spiritual level, not a clinical level. He's a good practitioner, but what makes him exceptional is his dedication and his belief in what he does. He is truly concerned about your health and well-being.
A lot of medical practitioners look at your test results and tell you there's nothing wrong. You try to explain: this is my experience; I'm in pain. The doctor is insinuating that "it's psychological"! You rely on medical practitioners for expertise, so you start to question yourself. "Why am I still having pain?" then you withdraw and try to live with it, thinking "They can't do anything for me. My symptoms are beyond help."
When my symptoms of back pain became unbearable, I would seek out help. I would start with a new chiropractor and would get some sort of immediate relief, because the symptoms were so severe. But none of them pinpointed the real problem. It was right there in front of them, but they didn't go any further. The symptoms would get to the point of relief, then I'd be back where I started. I would feel, "I will have to live with this level of pain." The pain was 6 on a scale of 10; constant, annoying pain.
So I was dissatisfied with one chiropractor after another, and I was eating Tylenol like it was candy. My next door neighbor said one day, "You look like you're in pain." She suggested that I go to Dr. Spear. I didn't do anything about it at first, but two weeks later when the pain became unbearable, I gave a call, and we started on this journey together.
The same thing initially happened with Dr. Spear. I felt immediate relief with each adjustment, but then the symptoms would return. Dr. Spear was concerned and disappointed that he wasn't able to get to the cause of my back issues. He went back and looked at the X rays again, and told me, "I believe I've figured out where the problem is. I didn't really have the full picture of a couple of vertebrae in your lower back." He adjusted me and lo and behold, it was a miracle. My lower back pain was finally gone. I was pain free and able to function. Dr. Spear is really so kind, caring, compassionate, and extremely thorough. He realized that although my body showed I was in alignment, I wasn't. There was a deeper problem. He went back and discovered it.
Before seeing Dr. Spear, I took several long driving trips. After our children were grown and gone, my wife and I bought a vehicle and started driving, to figure out where we wanted to live. I began to develop excruciating pain in my back. If we drove more than four hours straight, I would have to find a chiropractor in the next town. I could not get out of the car and stand without holding onto the car door.
Then I made driving trips to California and Alabama to help out our grown children. These involved driving vehicles one way and riding the Greyhound bus in the other direction. I drove in terrible pain. My last bus trip from California to Eugene was a nightmare; I was crippled.
Dr. Spear was the third chiropractor I saw in Eugene. After seeing Dr. Spear, I drove my son's truck down trip to California. I packed up my Tylenol; I was prepared. But there was not one incident of pain. Nothing. I felt fine. I visited with my son for a day, and then I then spent 21 hours on the bus going back to Eugene and amazingly didn't suffer one bit of pain. I was pain free. It was a miracle!
The Body of Light office is such a pleasant place. When I go there, it's like being surrounded by good friends and close family members. The welcoming atmosphere makes me feel at home, like I'm going to be taken care of. It's a warm feeling. Everyone is kind and considerate. This is more than a normal office. There's no wall between you and the staff. Jennifer is right there with us; she is accessible.
If somebody said to me that they were having problems, I would absolutely recommend Body of Light. Our oldest daughter is coming back here soon; hopefully I will be dragging her right over there. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Spear.
